Pole Theatre is the most exciting new form of pole dance competition, and has been taking the world by storm one country at a time. Created in Australia by pole celebrity sisters Michelle Shimmy and Maddie Sparkle, this competition can now be found in fourteen countries across six continents!
Pole Theatre USA was a sold-out success in Denver in 2015, and is now ready to take over the Boulder Theater for a weekend of performance art in two divisions and four categories. The competitors are divided into Semi-Professional (8/19) and Professional (8/20), and split between four categories: Pole Art, Pole Drama, Pole Comedy, and Pole Classique. Pole Theatre is open to male and female competitors from around the world, and will feature a mix of solo acts, duets, and group performances.
The focus of this competition is on the art of performance, and competitors are encouraged to delve deep into their creative consciousness to envision acts that will astonish and delight the audience. In 2015 we saw Pole Art performances inspired by samba, ballroom, flamenco, and modern dance, Pole Drama stories of an abusive relationship, a doll coming to life, a figure skater who traded in her skates for the pole, and an assassin on a night out on the town, Pole Comedy routines including Indiana Jane, a conspiracy theorist, a dinosaur chasing her own tale, and a date night gone horribly wrong, and Pole Classique performances honoring the sexy roots of pole dance.
What will our competitors bring to the stage in 2016? Find out on August 19 and 20 in a visual spectacular unlike anything you’ve seen before!
